Hi Ladies!
I’m looking forward to discussing our book with you!!
Have a great weekend!

Lori!
It is good to figure out you are there!
There is so much thst I agree with Routman about writing instruction! He recognized the problem in many schools was the over focus on procedures, processes, genres, and testing (pg. 5)He also noted the underfocus on thinking, communicating, inquiring, and exploring language.
I could see my second graders staring blankly when given a writing prompt. Not because they were void of life experiences to think about, or feelings related to events, but they did not know how to get it outside of themselves. Barriers to their thinking may have included the spelling of a word, or how to sequence the events, how to begin to tell their story.
Routman says (pg. 7) that we, the teachers, must have the eficacy to “see the process as doable, managable, and ENJOYABLE! We, (as teachers) need to simplify the process while raising our expectations and achieving better results”
Lori, what did you think at the beginning of this book? What, if any of you inital thoughts changed as you read?
